Brian Fitzpatrick, Don Bacon, Tom Barrett, and Mike Lawler to pressure them to stand up for their constituents and vote \u201cno\u201d on this bill.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In response to <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/05\/07\/politics\/enrollment-medicaid-republican-representatives-dg\"><em>new reporting<\/em><\/a><em> highlighting how vulnerable House Republicans are at risk of losing their seats if the GOP\u2019s budget bill that slashes Medicaid passes, <\/em><strong><em>DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile Donald Trump implodes the economy, House Republicans are championing a budget bill to rip a health care lifeline from millions of their constituents. Instead of standing up for the very people who sent them to Washington, House Republicans like Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick, Don Bacon, Mike Lawler, and Tom Barrett would rather sell out their communities to suck up to Donald Trump and his billionaire backers. Make no mistake: If Republicans vote for Medicaid cuts, they will kiss their majority goodbye.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/05\/07\/politics\/enrollment-medicaid-republican-representatives-dg\"><strong>CNN<\/strong><\/a><strong>: Here are the states and districts that depend on Medicaid the most, in 3 charts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By Annette Choi and Lauren Fox<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>While most Republican districts aren\u2019t heavily reliant on the program, Speaker Mike Johnson\u2019s historically tight margin in the House means that he can only afford a handful of Republican \u201cno\u201d votes to pass any changes to Medicaid without Democrats\u2019 help.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Among those 64 Republican lawmakers who represent high-enrollment districts, five of them won their races in November within a tight 5-point margin: Reps. Nick Begich (AK-AL), Juan Ciscomani (AZ-6), Ken Calvert (CA-41), Jeff Hurd (CO-3) and Rob Bresnahan (PA-8).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Republicans representing districts with high Medicaid enrollment rates could face more pressure to break from party lines on a vote to cut funding for the program \u2014 particularly those who won in close races last year and those who outperformed Trump, including those who ran as moderates. A group of moderate House Republicans \u2014 including Bresnahan, Ciscomani and Hurd \u2014 reminded House leadership in a letter that they \u201chelped to deliver a Republican Majority\u201d and would not support a bill that included cuts to Medicaid benefits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There are also a number of GOP senators who have expressed concerns about backing any proposal that fundamentally reshapes or cuts Medicaid benefits, including Sen. Josh Hawley who said earlier this year, \u201cI am very skeptical about cuts to Medicaid that result in any benefit cuts.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Of all states with two GOP senators, Alaska has the highest enrollment rate, ranking fourth nationwide, as of December 2024 \u2014 with one in three residents enrolled in the program for health care. Sen. Lisa Murkowski has pledged to protect access for Alaskans and fight cuts to the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Louisiana, represented by Republican Sens.
