In response to House Republicans on the Budget Committee advancing their disastrous budget, <\/em>DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter failing the first time they tried it, Donald Trump and the GOP are still pushing their disaster of a budget plan that would devastate working families. The Republican budget is a toxic attack on hardworking Americans that would rip away health care and force children to go hungry to pay for tax breaks for billionaires. Let\u2019s be clear: nothing in this unpopular and dangerous budget is \u2018America First\u2019 \u2014 it\u2019s a \u2018billionaire first\u2019 handout to the ultra-wealthy. Democrats are ready to fight back against this extreme agenda, and make sure the GOP understands that their reckless policies will cost them at the ballot box.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

House Republicans on the Budget Committee voted to advance their disastrous funding agenda to make Trump\u2019s tax scam permanent and fund <\/strong>\u201cmore [tax] breaks\u201d<\/strong><\/a> for the ultra-wealthy. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cBudget panel sends Trump’s \u2018big, beautiful bill\u2019 to House floor\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

USA Today<\/a>: \u201cLow-income families would lose, wealthier ones would gain under GOP tax proposals\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLow-income families stand to lose hundreds if not thousands of dollars in income while wealthy ones will gain even more<\/strong>, according to a new analysis of Congressional Republican tax and budget proposals. \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe report estimated that families with a modified adjusted gross income of less than $10,000 would lose over $2,700<\/strong> (or nearly a 15% reduction in income). Families who make between $10,000 and $20,000 would lose over $800<\/strong>, or about 4.4% reduction in income, while families who make between $20,000 and $30,000 would lose $400<\/strong>, or about 1.5% reduction in income. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn comparison, families with higher incomes would benefit<\/strong> from the extension of the 2017 tax cuts.\u201d
<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cThe draft legislation would extend the cuts in the 2017 tax bill, and it adds on some more breaks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSome will benefit the wealthiest, including a permanent increase to the deduction for pass-through income to 22% from 20%, plus a hike for the estate tax exemption<\/strong>, which would shield more inheritances from taxes.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To pay for their tax giveaways for billionaires, House Republicans voted to gut Medicaid and slash food assistance<\/strong> <\/strong>for millions of Americans. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cThe House Energy and Commerce Committee, in a 30-to-24 party-line vote, advanced<\/strong> the health care section of the GOP\u2019s sweeping tax bill that would slash Medicaid spending by hundreds of billions<\/strong> of dollars.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cThe House Agriculture Committee voted 29-25 along party lines to <\/strong>advance legislation that would cut as much as $300 billion in food aid spending to pay for Republicans\u2019 domestic policy megabill\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Republicans\u2019 plan, including gutting Medicaid, will strip away health care from nearly 14 million Americans and devastate our children, seniors, and rural communities. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Center on Budget and Policy Priorities<\/a>: \u201cCBO\u2019s early estimates show that at least 13.7 million people would lose coverage and become uninsured because of the Medicaid cuts and the ACA marketplace restrictions in this committee legislation, <\/strong>as well as the fact that the budget legislation does not extend expiring marketplace premium tax credit improvements.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Republicans passed the largest cuts to food assistance in American history, jeopardizing a program that 42 million Americans rely on and forcing families and children to starve. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
