In response to House Republicans on the Rules Committee advancing their disastrous budget, <\/em>DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHouse Republicans rammed through massive cuts to food assistance and health care in order to give tax handouts to the top 1 percent. These are the largest cuts to health care and food assistance in American history, booting nearly 14 million off of their health care and risking a program that 42 million Americans rely on. Trump and Republicans can try to hide this scam from the American people, but Democrats will make sure the American people know that Republicans chose to put billionaires over hardworking families \u2014 and it will cost them their seat in the midterms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

House Republicans on the Rules Committee voted to advance their disastrous funding agenda to fund <\/strong>\u201cmore [tax] breaks\u201d<\/strong><\/a> for the ultra-wealthy. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chad Pergram, Fox News<\/a>: \u201cHouse Rules Cmte votes 8-4 to send updated Big, Beautiful Bill to the floor.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

USA Today<\/a>: \u201cLow-income families would lose, wealthier ones would gain under GOP tax proposals\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cThe draft legislation would extend the cuts in the 2017 tax bill, and it adds on some more breaks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSome will benefit the wealthiest, including a permanent increase to the deduction for pass-through income to 22% from 20%, plus a hike for the estate tax exemption<\/strong>, which would shield more inheritances from taxes.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To pay for their tax giveaways for billionaires, House Republicans voted to gut Medicaid and slash food assistance<\/strong> <\/strong>for millions of Americans. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cThe House Energy and Commerce Committee, in a 30-to-24 party-line vote, advanced<\/strong> the health care section of the GOP\u2019s sweeping tax bill that would slash Medicaid spending by hundreds of billions<\/strong> of dollars.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cThe House Agriculture Committee voted 29-25 along party lines to <\/strong>advance legislation that would cut as much as $300 billion in food aid spending to pay for Republicans\u2019 domestic policy megabill.\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Republicans and Democrats agree \u2014 this disastrous, billionaire-first agenda will cost hardworking Americans their jobs and devastate local economies to the tune of billions of dollars. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cBut some Senate Republicans say abruptly cutting off [clean energy] credits and changing key provisions that help fund projects more quickly could stifle investments<\/strong> in energy technologies needed to meet growing power demand, and lead to job losses for manufacturing and electricity projects<\/strong> in their states and districts.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milken Institute of Public Health<\/a>: \u201cNEW REPORT: Federal Medicaid and SNAP Cuts Could Result in One Million Jobs Lost and State GDPs Falling by More than $110 Billion in 2026\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c[P]otential budget cuts <\/strong>to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program could trigger severe economic consequences across all 50 states and the District of Columbia<\/strong>. If implemented, these combined cuts could lead to one million jobs lost,<\/strong> a $113 billion decline in states\u2019 gross domestic products, and $8.8 billion in lost state and local tax revenue in 2026 alone.\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
