{"id":1053141,"date":"2025-06-06T20:15:25","date_gmt":"2025-06-07T00:15:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/democrats.org\/?p=1053141"},"modified":"2025-06-06T20:15:25","modified_gmt":"2025-06-07T00:15:25","slug":"dnc-on-the-supreme-court-rejecting-republicans-challenge-to-end-pa-voters-right-to-cast-provisional-ballots-on-election-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/democrats.org\/news\/dnc-on-the-supreme-court-rejecting-republicans-challenge-to-end-pa-voters-right-to-cast-provisional-ballots-on-election-day\/","title":{"rendered":"DNC on the Supreme Court Rejecting Republicans\u2019 Challenge to End PA Voters\u2019 Right to Cast Provisional Ballots on Election Day\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Tonight, the Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2025\/06\/06\/supreme-court-pennsylvania-election-provisional-ballot\/84075190007\/#\">rejected<\/a> the Republican Party\u2019s challenge to Pennsylvania voters\u2019 right to cast provisional ballots on Election Day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, the PA Dems, with the support of the DNC, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/04\/25\/dnc-steps-into-voting-rights-fight-in-pennsylvania-00309193\">filed an opposition brief<\/a> to oppose the RNC and Pennsylvania Republicans\u2019 efforts to end the ability of Pennsylvania voters whose mail ballots were rejected for a technical error to cast a provisional ballot in-person on Election Day to ensure their vote is counted. Pennsylvania voters deserve to have their votes counted if a simple error on their mail-in ballot occurs, and tonight\u2019s decision affirms their rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DNC Chair Ken Martin issued the following statement:<\/strong><br><br>\u201cRepublicans don\u2019t think every rightful vote should count \u2014 we disagree, and now, the Supreme Court has sided with us. Pennsylvanians deserve to have their say in every election \u2013 full stop. Simple errors on mail-in ballots shouldn\u2019t impede Pennsylvanians from exercising their rights at the ballot box, regardless of what the RNC and Pennsylvania Republicans want to believe. That\u2019s why when the Republican Party attempted to challenge this practice, based on obscure and debunked legal theories, the DNC and PA Dems stepped in. The DNC is standing up for voters because the stakes are too high not to fight back.
