Manufacturing is contracting, farmers are suffering, and working families are being left without relief \u2014 so it\u2019s no surprise that Americans are overwhelmingly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/deportation-immigration-opinion-poll\/\">rejecting<\/a> Trump\u2019s failed agenda. Trump\u2019s only focus is on giving handouts to the wealthy \u2014 not helping working families.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Here\u2019s a look at the latest ways Trump\u2019s economic agenda is hurting Americans:&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/economy\/trump-tariffs-us-economy-business-investment-7d3c6476\">Wall Street Journal<\/a>: <strong>\u201cThe U.S. Economy Is Headed Toward an Uncomfortable Summer<\/strong>\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cBusinesses are warning that constantly shifting trade policies are interfering with their ability to plan for the future, leading to hiring and investment freezes.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cMost economists think the prospects of a recession are higher than they were at the beginning of the year\u2026\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/finance\/commodities-futures\/americans-electric-bills-are-headed-higher-with-the-temperatures-d454a030?mod=rss_markets_main\">Wall Street Journal<\/a>: <strong>\u201cOn average, Americans should count on their electricity bills in June, July and August rising 4% from last year\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cThat would bring the nationwide summertime average to $186 a month, up from $180 last year and $148 four years ago, the [Energy Information Administration] said.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cNew England \u2026 should see the biggest jump in monthly bills, up 6.7% from last year, to about $200.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/06\/06\/trump-manufacturing-tariffs-imports-economy-00390959\">Politico<\/a>: <strong>\u201cTrump wants a manufacturing boom. The industry is buckling.\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201c[The ISM\u2019s US manufacturing PMI] slipped for the third straight month in May as companies made plans to scale back production.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cFederal Reserve data this month reported weaker manufacturing output.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-06-09\/trump-s-tariff-chaos-threatens-his-push-for-rust-belt-revival\">Bloomberg<\/a>: <strong>\u201cTrump\u2019s Tariffs Aimed at Reviving Manufacturing Are Doing the Opposite\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cTrump\u2019s trade wars will smother the progress US manufacturers have already made revving up American factories. Manufacturing payrolls fell by 8,000 last month, the most this year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201c[G]rowth in overall US private construction spending on manufacturing has flatlined from the boom seen under the Biden administration.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2025\/jun\/07\/farmers-trump-cuts-rfk-jr\">The Guardian<\/a>: <strong>\u201cIndependent and organic farmers say chaos created by the Trump administration\u2019s cuts has hurt their businesses\u2026\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201c[T]he administration had already cut a total of $1bn in programs that supported small farms that grow locally produced fruits and vegetables.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cRepublicans proposed cuts to food programs that indirectly benefit farmers. House Republicans passed a bill proposing $300bn in cuts to food stamps \u2026 to fund tax cuts.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/deportation-immigration-opinion-poll\/\">CBS News<\/a>: <strong>\u201cSupport for new tariffs in general remains net negative. Americans continue to think they will lead to higher prices at least in the short run, and often in the long run too.\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>59% of Americans oppose new tariffs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>58% disapprove of Trump\u2019s handling of the economy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A majority of Americans (77%) say new tariffs will increase prices in the short term and (50%) the long term\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>75% of Americans agree Trump is trying to help the wealthy with his trade policies\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Americans overwhelmingly believe Trump\u2019s disastrous budget will help the wealthy (60%), and most think the bill will hurt lower-income Americans (54%)\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/budgetlab.yale.edu\/research\/long-term-impacts-one-big-beautiful-bill-act\">Yale Budget Lab<\/a>: <strong>\u201cIn the long run, real GDP growth slows because of the debt load from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) that raises interest rates and results in crowding out.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cOver the first 10 years, average GDP growth is functionally zero, reflecting that the small, short-term growth impacts are replaced by negative growth moving forward.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cGDP growth slows such that by 2054 the level of GDP is nearly 3 percent smaller than it would have been if the bill were not passed.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/c7ef4914-c4b2-4712-a4b6-7668086a7ea2\">Financial Times<\/a>: <strong>\u201cSenior Federal Reserve official puts \u201850-50\u2019 odds on tariffs sparking sustained US inflation\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cSt Louis Fed president Alberto Musalem told the Financial Times that while Trump\u2019s levies could boost inflation for \u2018a quarter or two,\u2019 there was \u2018an equally likely scenario where the impact of tariffs on prices could last longer.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Donald Trump promised to lower costs, but Americans are heading into an \u201cuncomfortable\u201d summer, with skyrocketing energy prices and an economy facing a potential downturn.
