In response to Senate Republicans releasing their portion of Donald Trump\u2019s budget, which includes massive cuts to Medicaid, <\/em>DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSenate Republicans just put in writing their plans to help Donald Trump end Medicaid as we know it, with a budget that would rip away health care through massive cuts to the program. Trump and Republicans are turning their backs on the American people \u2014 this budget is a slap in the face to millions of working families across the country who rely on Medicaid. These cuts could force seniors out of nursing homes, gut kids\u2019 health care programs, and make it harder for folks in rural communities to see a doctor. While Republicans throw working families under the bus to line the pockets of the ultra-wealthy, Democrats will fight Trump\u2019s disastrous billionaire-first budget at every turn.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW: Senate Republicans just released their portion of Donald Trump\u2019s billionaire-first budget bill, which includes massive cuts to Medicaid.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cSenate Finance Committee Republicans published their<\/strong> text of President Trump\u2019s \u2018one big, beautiful bill\u2019 <\/strong>Monday evening, which includes major tax reforms and even steeper Medicaid cuts than the House called for.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burgess Everett, Semafor<\/a>: \u201cNew: The Senate will be MORE aggressive in seeking savings from Medicaid than the House reconciliation bill.\u201d  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cThe Senate Finance Committee\u2019s newly released draft would incrementally lower the allowable provider tax in Medicaid expansion states starting in 2027 from the current 6 percent until it hits 3.5 percent in 2031. The dial-down would not apply to nursing or intermediate care facilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat would be a huge departure from the House-passed bill, which would put a moratorium on states\u2019 ability to raise their provider tax beyond the current 6 percent.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Trump\u2019s request, House Republicans are trying to rip away health care from 16 million Americans \u2014 devastating seniors and rural folks to line the pockets of their billionaire backers. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burgess Everett, Semafor<\/a>: \u201cCBO finds that the [GOP] reconciliation bill (10.9 million) combined with the expiration of premium tax credits and new marketplace rule (5.1 million) would result in 16 million people fewer being insured\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cThe House Energy and Commerce Committee, in a 30-to-24 party-line vote, advanced<\/strong> the health care section of the GOP\u2019s sweeping tax bill that would slash Medicaid spending by hundreds of billions<\/strong> of dollars.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

USA Today<\/a>: \u201cLow-income families would lose, wealthier ones would gain under GOP tax proposals\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLow-income families stand to lose hundreds if not thousands of dollars in income while wealthy ones will gain even more<\/strong>, according to a new analysis of Congressional Republican tax and budget proposals. \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe report estimated that families with a modified adjusted gross income of less than $10,000 would lose over $2,700<\/strong> (or nearly a 15% reduction in income). Families who make between $10,000 and $20,000 would lose over $800<\/strong>, or about 4.4% reduction in income, while families who make between $20,000 and $30,000 would lose $400<\/strong>, or about 1.5% reduction in income. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn comparison, families with higher incomes would benefit<\/strong> from the extension of the 2017 tax cuts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite Americans\u2019 overwhelming support for Medicaid, Trump has worked from Day One to rip away Americans\u2019 health care and has a long history of attacking Medicaid. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navigator<\/a>: \u201cMedicaid remains overwhelmingly popular. \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThree-quarters of Americans view Medicaid favorably, including 71 percent of independents and 64 percent of Republicans.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
