Donald Trump\u2019s disastrous budget bill is already devastating communities in red and blue states alike \u2014 as food banks, rural hospitals, and nursing homes are already bracing for the devastating effects of this bill to take place. Before passing the largest cuts to food assistance and health care in American history, Republicans told their constituents to \u201cget over it\u201d<\/a> and that \u201cwe are all going to die.\u201d<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bottom line: Trump and his Republican lackeys are stealing from working families all to pay for another round of tax handouts for their billionaire donors.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NPR<\/a>: \u201cAn Alabama food bank leader anticipates a major increase in people needing to turn to groups like hers to cover their basic needs if the massive tax and spending legislation backed by President Trump clears Congress.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLinda Jones, the co-founder of the food bank Alabama Childhood Food Solutions, says her program that now distributes food to nearly 2,600 kids each week has already seen a 30% increase over last year. Overall, her organization now feeds close to 1,200 families in central Alabama \u2014 doubling last year\u2019s numbers. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe bill would make major changes to the country\u2019s social safety net. Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, are targeted for major cuts. Millions of people stand to lose food assistance if the House passes the bill after it cleared the Senate earlier this week, according to an estimate from the Congressional Budget Office of the House\u2019s first version of the bill.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fox 5 Atlanta<\/a>: \u201cAs President Donald Trump prepares to sign the \u2018One Big Beautiful Bill Act\u2019 into law, Atlanta\u2019s largest food bank warns that cuts to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will dramatically increase the demand for food assistance in Georgia.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith 1.4 million Georgians receiving SNAP benefits, it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of Georgians will lose their primary way of buying food. The Atlanta Community Food Bank, which supplies hundreds of food pantries in the state, says that would harm a lot of families.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Detroit Free Press<\/a>: \u201cAbout 45% of all pregnancies and childbirths in Michigan are covered by Medicaid and about 60% of people with nursing home care are covered by the program, according to data from the state health department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt least 200,000 Michiganders would lose health insurance coverage as part of the bill\u2019s planned cuts<\/strong>, according to a report from the Citizens Research Council of Michigan, a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy organization. The report noted that some analyses estimate the fallout could be as high as 700,000 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Michigan League for Public Policy reported that 1 in 7 Michiganders \u2014 about 1.4 million people \u2014 rely on SNAP benefits. Among them are 41,000 military veterans with food insecurity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe American Hospital Association said the legislation would do \u2018irreparable harm\u2019 to the U.S. health care system, \u2018reducing access to care for all Americans and severely undermining the ability of hospitals and health systems to care for our most vulnerable patients,\u2019 <\/strong>said Rick Pollack, its president and CEO, in a statement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wisconsin Public Radio<\/a>: \u201cTens of thousands of Wisconsinites could lose health coverage under Trump\u2019s budget bill\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPresident Donald Trump\u2019s signature legislation, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, could cause tens of thousands of Wisconsinites to lose Medicaid coverage and put some rural hospitals at risk of closing. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By 2034, the American Hospital Association estimates that more than 30,000 people in rural Wisconsin communities would lose Medicaid coverage, and the state\u2019s rural hospitals would lose $607 million under the House-approved version of the bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WCNC<\/a>: \u201cThe Big Beautiful Bill would require states to pay a portion of costs for SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Currently, 1.4 million North Carolinians and 577,000 South Carolinians rely on the program.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUnder this bill, those numbers would shrink. \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe NC Department of Health and Human Services warned that cuts could hit some regions, including western North Carolina, especially hard.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

West Virginia Watch<\/a>: \u201cMedicaid cuts could hurt older adults who rely on home care, nursing homes\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe care at Community PACE is paid for by Medicaid, the state-federal health insurance program for people with low incomes or certain disabilities, and Medicare, the federal insurance program for people 65 and older. The center is a one-stop shop that provides medical and social services to older adults during the day, allowing them to continue living safely in their homes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf Congress cuts funding to Medicaid, Levin expects his center would probably close. \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCutting Medicaid also could make it harder to recruit and keep a workforce of nursing home and home health employees.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
