In response to Donald Trump breaking his campaign promise to fund in vitro fertilization,<\/em> <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBroken promises are becoming the motto of the Trump administration. Donald Trump may have tried to hide his abysmal record on reproductive health care and claim to be the \u2018father of IVF,\u2019 but let\u2019s be clear: He couldn\u2019t care less about American families. Now, the mask is off \u2014 Trump never had any real plans to make IVF free. For all their talk about being \u2018pro-family,\u2019 Republicans are the ones making it harder for Americans to start and support families of their own.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW: Donald Trump will not fund or require health insurers to cover in vitro fertilization, breaking his campaign promise to fund this medical treatment. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cWhite House has no plan to mandate IVF care, despite campaign pledge\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTrump said that if he returned to office, the government would either pay for IVF services or issue rules requiring insurance companies to cover treatment for it. \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c<\/strong>More than six months into his second term, however, the Trump administration has not publicly proposed new federal subsidies to make IVF free or more affordable<\/strong>. In addition, White House officials are backing away from proposals discussed internally to mandate IVF coverage for the roughly 50 million people on the Obamacare exchanges \u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, Trump and his MAGA minions are defunding Planned Parenthood while slashing fertility and maternal health programs that families rely on \u2014 another goal of Project 2025 that Trump claimed to know nothing about.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFederal programs that help people compare IVF clinics, monitor safety in fertility and make sense of health data have been scaled back by the Trump administration in a move some maternal health experts predict will have an enduring effect on women and children. \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cExperts say the fallout will hit patients directly: Couples trying to conceive could lose access to information about clinics, treatments and their chances of success.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cPresident Trump has called himself the \u2018fertilization president,\u2019 but DOGE-directed cuts this month decimated Centers for Disease Control staff who track the safety, cost and outcomes of the nation\u2019s fertility clinics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe CDC had been a source of unbiased information for families contemplating IVF or other assisted reproductive technologies, including estimates of \u2026 their chances for success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite Trump\u2019s <\/strong>\u201cobjectively absurd\u201d<\/strong><\/a> claim that he\u2019s the \u201cfather of IVF,\u201d attacks on IVF were only made possible because Trump overturned <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caitlin Huey-Burns, CBS<\/a>: \u201cTrump\u2019s claim that he is the \u2018father of IVF\u2019 is not only false, it\u2019s objectively absurd.<\/strong> In the same town hall, he said that he had to ask Sen. Katie Britt to explain IVF to him. Those two statements are completely at odds with one another.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edward-Isaac Dovere, CNN<\/a>: \u201c\u2018I\u2019m the father of IVF,\u2019 Trump said at his Fox town hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIVF was first done successfully in 1978. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe only reason IVF access became an issue now is b\/c of Dobbs, made possible by [Trump\u2019s] appointments.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRepublicans who voted against include: JD Vance.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMINDER: Trump \u201cproudly\u201d overturned <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>. He is responsible for nationwide attacks on Americans\u2019 reproductive rights. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI was proudly the person responsible for the ending of \u2026 <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get Roe v. Wade<\/em> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me,<\/strong> and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI was able to kill <\/strong>Roe v. Wade <\/em><\/strong>\u2026<\/strong> Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to.<\/strong> Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. Thank you President TRUMP!!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
