After throwing his own constituents under the bus to rubber-stamp Donald Trump\u2019s billionaire-first agenda, Republican Rep. Mike Flood came face-to-face with fed-up Nebraskans during a disastrous town hall. Nebraskans showed up in droves to hold Flood accountable for bending the knee to Trump and passing his billionaire-first budget \u2014 the largest wealth transfer in history from the working families to the ultrawealthy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response<\/em>, DNC Vice Chair and <\/em><\/strong>Association of State Democratic Committees<\/em><\/strong> President Jane Kleeb released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNebraskans are fed up. First, Mike Flood ripped away health care and food assistance from thousands of his own constituents. Then, he lied to them about the sweeping cuts. But he can\u2019t escape the fact that he\u2019s making working families suffer all to fund another round of massive tax handouts for Trump\u2019s billionaire donors. During the August recess, Nebraskans, like Americans all across the country, are sending a loud and clear message to Republicans: You voted against us, now we\u2019ll vote you out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rep. Mike Flood faced heckles and boos at his town hall after he voted for Donald Trump\u2019s billionaire-first budget and ripped away health care and food assistance from millions of Americans.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cRepresentative Mike Flood, Republican of Nebraska, was not even 30 seconds into his prepared introduction at a town hall in Lincoln on Monday evening when the booing and the jeering began. Then it didn\u2019t let up for over an hour.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018There\u2019s been a lot of misinformation out there about the bill,\u2019 Mr. Flood told a crowd of more than 700 people gathered in a downtown recital hall, referring to President Trump\u2019s sweeping domestic policy legislation that significantly cuts Medicaid, food benefits and other programs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018You are a liar!\u2019 multiple people shouted back. \u2018Liar! Liar!\u2019 \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn response, the packed auditorium erupted in a chant of \u2018Tax the rich,\u2019 and Mr. Flood finally had to pause his slides. \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMr. Flood admitted to voters earlier this summer at a town hall that he had not read the entire bill before voting to pass it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump\u2019s budget<\/strong><\/a> will devastate working Nebraskans \u2014 killing jobs and ripping away health care and food assistance programs they rely on. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
