He says the tariffs are destroying American farms, and it’s a ripple effect in the economy. ‘What ends up happening is, of course, when American farmers are hurt, the rural economies that exist in these small towns — the small-town restaurant ends up closing, right, because there’s no income left anymore in those communities. The small-town banks and clinics and hospitals end up closing. You can go down the list. It just decimates rural economies. When we see the impact on our agricultural industry, like what we’re seeing right now — this is the worst farm crisis we’ve seen since the early 1980s.’”

KMSP-MIN (FOX): “Governor Tim Walz heavily criticizing President Trump’s Tariffs today, saying they are destroying American farmers. This has upset farmers like John Bartman, owner of Bartman Farm in Illinois. ‘MAGA now means make Argentina great again. According to the University of Illinois, the average grain farmer will lose $100 an acre in the city. Why? Because there’s nearly 1 billion bushels of soybeans that don’t have a home right now.’ The Trump administration is considering 10 to $15 billion in aid to American farmers. But Bartman says that’s not the answer he was hoping for. ‘A bailout is like putting a Band-Aid on a bullet wound. Government bailouts do not make up for our loss of income.
