Trump Has Withdrawn 49 Nominees in 2025 \u2013 The Most of Any President in a Single Year<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tonight, another one of Donald Trump\u2019s nominees failed to even get enough support to be put up for a confirmation vote by the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate. Trump\u2019s nominee to lead the Office of Special Counsel \u2014 Paul Ingrassia \u2014 withdrew after being exposed for having a self-professed \u201cNazi streak<\/a>,\u201d despite his mother\u2019s in-person pleas<\/a> to legislators. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is just the latest in a long line of questionable and unqualified nominees to lead key government offices. Trump\u2019s second term has the highest number<\/a> of withdrawn nominees in a single year out of any president in modern history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t forget: it was Trump\u2019s pick for U.S. Attorney General Matt Gaetz<\/a>, then Elise Stefanik<\/a> \u2014 whose nomination to serve as U.N. ambassador was withdrawn because Republicans\u2019 House majority was too slim \u2014\u00a0 followed by Ed Martin<\/a> as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, and then E.J. Antoni<\/a> for the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics who had a photo of Hitler\u2019s favorite battleship<\/a> hanging in his office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response,<\/strong> <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement<\/em><\/strong>:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo one can rescue Donald Trump\u2019s nominees \u2014 not even their mommies. Republicans control the Senate, and Trump still can\u2019t get his nominees confirmed with his dumpster-fire picks, so they\u2019re forced to withdraw month after month.
