Nearly HALF of Adult Marketplace Enrollees Work For or Own a Small Business and Will Face Skyrocketing Health Care Premiums\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Donald Trump\u2019s government shutdown continues, small businesses are being crushed<\/a> by Trump\u2019s economy, and small business employees will bear the brunt of the Republican health care crisis.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a survey released<\/a> earlier this month, small business optimism declined, largely due to inflation, lagging sales, and a disastrous job market. Small business employees are being hurt, too. Small business owners and workers are less likely to receive health care from their jobs compared to those who work for large corporations, leaving owners and workers dependent on the ACA marketplace. Almost HALF of adult ACA marketplace enrollees work<\/a> for or own a small business or are self-employed \u2014 meaning that small businesses will be disproportionately affected by the health care price hikes that Trump and Republicans are refusing to prevent each day their shutdown continues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump and Republicans in Congress are doing everything they can to run away from the economic chaos Trump created \u2014 but small businesses and everyday Americans are the ones footing the bill for Trump’s reckless policies, regardless of how Trump and his Clown Car Cabinet try to spin it. Countless small business owners, employees, and those self-employed \u2014 already facing financial uncertainty because of Trump\u2019s trade war \u2014 will weather massive health care price hikes come November 1 if Republicans get their way. Apparently, instead of fixing the looming health care crisis, Trump and Republicans have other, much more \u2018meaningful work\u2019<\/a> they need to do far from Washington.\u201d  

While House Republicans are going on five weeks of their vacation, Speaker Mike Johnson said<\/a> yesterday that \u201cHouse Republicans are doing some of the most meaningful work of their careers.\u201d Meanwhile, small businesses are struggling under the weight of Trump\u2019s failed economy, and 22 million Americans are just days away from seeing their health care premiums skyrocket by an average of 114%.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
