DNC chair Tom Perez released the following statement on reports that Trump is re-inventing himself to become a less extreme politician.

\n“Donald Trump’s latest ‘pivot’ is another farce designed by Trump to divert your attention.  This time, he’s distracting from his reckless and extreme agenda that has hurt, not helped, countless hardworking Americans.  The only plays Trump can execute are lies and fearmongering – look no further than the nationwide deportation force Trump has charged forth to create.  Trump is as likely to moderate as my Buffalo Bills are to win the Super Bowl next season. It ain’t happening.”<\/strong>

\nThis isn’t the first time Trump has faked a “pivot” to less extreme positions:

You know, when I speak to a group of 10 people in a conference room, I'm not going to be speaking the same way I spoke in Pennsylvania yesterday to 25,000 people. \nTrump, When Asked About Pivoting Toward Being Presidential, Said “The Time Is Going To Be Soon.”<\/strong>

\nUSA TODAY<\/a><\/strong>: “Is Donald Trump about to make a pivot toward presidential?

\nIn an hour-long interview Thursday in his New York office, Trump promised, ‘The time is going to be soon.’ Trump assured me that he is ready to ‘start building coalitions’ at the right moment. ‘I’ll tell you what else is going to be soon. My whole life I’ve gotten along with people. … People you see excoriating me on TV … are calling my office wanting to get on the team. I actually asked a couple of them, ‘How can you do this after what you said?’ And they said, ‘No problem.’’ At this, The Donald seemed hurt to discover the dirtiness of politics.”
