Thousands of children, pregnant women, and low-income workers and families in West Virginia, and millions nationwide, depend on these critical programs for health insurance and care. Without this essential funding, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kff.org\/other\/state-indicator\/annual-chip-enrollment\/?activeTab=graph&amp;currentTimeframe=0&amp;startTimeframe=18&amp;selectedDistributions=chip-enrollment&amp;sortModel=%7B%22colId%22:%22Location%22,%22sort%22:%22asc%22%7D\">48,187<\/a> West Virginia children enrolled in the Children&rsquo;s Health Insurance Program could be at risk of losing coverage. And, West Virginia could lose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.everycrsreport.com\/files\/20170113_R43911_852eca9ca6e96b41176e6609d8cb068ba7e770ed.pdf\">$52,842,000<\/a> in funding for its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/other\/state-indicator\/community-health-center-sites-and-visits\/?currentTimeframe=0&amp;sortModel=%7B%22colId%22:%22Location%22,%22sort%22:%22asc%22%7D\">28<\/a> community health centers, forcing many to close their doors.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Republicans were so busy trying to force a sham repeal of the Affordable Care Act through the Senate that would strip health care away from millions, that they dropped the ball on renewing funding for CHIP and community health centers, programs critical to thousands of West Virginians&rsquo; access to health care, including 48,187 West Virginia children.&rdquo; said DNC Spokesperson Elizabeth Renda. &ldquo;Senator Capito and West Virginia Republican Representatives must immediately take bipartisan action to protect these programs and the thousands of West Virginia families who depend on them.&rdquo;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republicans fled town and abandoned their responsibilities to reauthorize funding for the Children&rsquo;s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and community health centers, which expires across the nation tomorrow.
