In response to Senator Johnson and Republicans moving their tax plan out of the Senate Budget Committee without a single Democratic vote, DNC spokesperson Mandy McClure released the following statement:<\/em><\/p>\n

“This bill was written for Donald Trump, Senator Ron Johnson and their wealthy friends, not for hardworking Wisconsin families. Despite the fact that Senator Johnson has previously said that he cares ‘deeply<\/a>’ about the deficit, this Republican tax scam bill would substantially add to the federal deficit, hurt Wisconsin workers and homeowners, teachers and older Americans; it would take away health insurance from millions and make it harder for people to save for retirement. In fact, while Senator Johnson and Republicans vote to give big corporations and the top 1% another massive windfall, their plan would raise taxes on at least half of Americans. Democrats believe that we should reform our tax system to work better for the middle class. And we will fight tooth-and-nail to make sure this bill never makes it to Donald Trump’s desk.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
