{"id":2230,"date":"2018-02-02T19:45:00","date_gmt":"2018-02-02T19:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/democrats.org\/blog\/2018\/02\/02\/dnc-on-anti-transgender-rnc-resolution\/"},"modified":"2018-02-02T19:45:00","modified_gmt":"2018-02-02T19:45:00","slug":"dnc-on-anti-transgender-rnc-resolution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/democrats.org\/news\/dnc-on-anti-transgender-rnc-resolution\/","title":{"rendered":"DNC on Anti-Transgender RNC Resolution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Today, the Republican National Committee at their Winter Meeting, <\/em><em><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/7e85f33e8bba44a2996eabf0935d41df\">approved a resolution<\/a> calling a transgender individual &ldquo;a disqualifying psychological and physical&rdquo; condition and Trump&rsquo;s decision to ban transgender individuals from joining the military a policy &ldquo;intent and prerogative to strengthen our military with sound personnel policies.&rdquo; In response, DNC &shy;&shy;&shy;LGBTQ Media Director Lucas Acosta released the following statement: <\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Over the last month alone, the Trump-Pence administration has rolled back significant protections for the LGBTQ community, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2018\/jan\/23\/gay-couple-twin-sons-citizenship-ruling-lgbt-discrimination\">ripped apart families<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2018\/01\/16\/conscience-abortion-transgender-patients-health-care-289542\">allowed health care workers to discriminate access to medical care<\/a>. Today, the RNC decided to go even further and pass a hateful resolution, which only serves to subvert and further demean hardworking men and women who want to serve their country in the most honorable way they can.
