Earlier this year, Republicans passed a tax bill that incentivizes companies to ship jobs overseas, and now American workers are worried about finding themselves in the same place Jim once did. Jim and his wife have a message for the American people: &ldquo;Go vote. Go vote. Your life may depend on it.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Trump tax is not helping workers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Despite Republican claims, corporations are using their massive tax windfalls to benefit their wealthy shareholders, not their workers:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Trump tax actually<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/01\/08\/business\/economy\/gop-says-tax-bill-will-add-jobs-in-us-it-may-yield-more-hiring-abroad.html?_r=0\"> promotes<\/a> outsourcing and in many cases<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2018\/02\/02\/as-retailers-herald-tax-savings-still-closing-stores-axing-staff.html\"> incentivizes<\/a> corporations to lay off workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin-left:.5in;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Corporations have already announced more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/wonk\/wp\/2018\/04\/05\/the-tax-cuts-were-supposed-to-help-workers-unions-say-theyre-not\/?utm_term=.8ba43302f926\">$218 billion<\/a> in planned buybacks, and are estimated to authorize at least<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2018\/03\/02\/companies-projected-to-use-tax-cut-for-record-share-buybacks-jp-morgan.html\"> $800 billion<\/a> in buybacks this year, a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2018\/03\/02\/companies-projected-to-use-tax-cut-for-record-share-buybacks-jp-morgan.html\"> 51 percent<\/a> increase from 2017.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Republicans have touted one-time bonuses &ndash; not the longer-term wage increases they promised &ndash; that amount to <a href=\"https:\/\/americansfortaxfairness.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Trump-Tax-Cuts-Master-Report-4.9.18.pdf\">less than three percent<\/a> of what corporate shareholders are reaping.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Companies that Trump and Republicans touted for giving one-time bonuses to employees have been simultaneously<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/companies-are-announcing-layoffs-alongside-1516906209-24d15930-e029-4bc6-b3e4-b1d2c6074ab2.html\"> laying off<\/a> their workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Despite Republican promises, the Trump tax has<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/tax-cuts-fail-to-boost-corporate-investment-plans-fed-survey-shows-2018-3\"> done little<\/a> to spur investment or<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/politics\/wp\/2018\/04\/06\/three-months-into-the-tax-cuts-significant-wage-gains-seem-elusive\/?utm_term=.5b394a2b9c37\"> wage growth<\/a>, and most corporations say they have no plans to pass benefits on to their workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Watch Here &nbsp; &nbsp; Today, the Democratic National Committee released a video highlighting the story of Jim Gibbons, a Vietnam veteran who was laid off by Ford during the auto industry collapse in 2007.
