As Republicans continue to push legislation to make it easier to deport and detain children without safeguards, more horrific stories have come to light about abysmal treatment of immigrants in U.S. care. From detention centers in Texas where children are kept like criminals to the separation of a daughter from her mother while she was breastfeeding, take a look at just some of the disturbing stories resulting from the Trump administration’s inhumane immigration policies:  <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Washington Post<\/a><\/span>: Inside Casa Padre, the converted Walmart where the U.S. is holding nearly 1,500 immigrant children<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“The policy of criminally prosecuting all who cross the border illegally is<\/span> creating a new category of residents at these holding centers, young boys and girls who are grappling with the trauma of being unexpectedly separated from their mothers and fathers. To accommodate them, Sanchez said, Southwest Key is retrofitting some facilities with smaller bathrooms, smaller sinks, smaller everything.”<\/p>\n

CNN<\/a><\/span>: She says federal officials took her daughter while she breastfed the child in a detention center<\/p>\n

“The undocumented immigrant from Honduras sobbed as she told an attorney Tuesday how<\/span> federal authorities took her daughter while she breastfed the child in a detention center, where she was awaiting prosecution for entering the country illegally.”<\/p>\n

New York Times<\/a><\/span>: She Was Raped and Threatened With Death. Now She Has Lost Hope of Asylum.

“The threats from her boyfriend came daily, fear having no respite, Blanca said. <\/span>If she were to leave him, he told her from his jail cell, he would torture her, cut her into pieces and leave her to die. He was a member of the 18th Street gang in Honduras, and they did these sorts of things. She tried to resist.”

“A teacher who teaches English as a second-language is missing <\/span>one of her students who was picked up in Goleta early Sunday morning and deported to Puebla, Mexico.”<\/p>\n

USA Today<\/a><\/span>: 'Why are you taking him?': Trauma lingers from 'zero tolerance' immigration policy that separates parents, kids<\/p>\n

“As he struggled to sleep in a federal holding cell without his 5-year-old son, Genin Rodas’ American dreams — a job in San Francisco, sending cash back home to his wife and three other children in Honduras, a good education for his son, Edison — dissolved like smoke.<\/span><\/p>\n

“None of that suddenly mattered, he said.<\/span> All he wanted was his son back.”<\/p>\n
